Grey's Anatomy (20x3) ⁞⁞ Episode Spotlight

Episode 3 of Season 20 of Grey's Anatomy featured gay Chief Resident Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli) facing his ex-boyfriend Nico (Alex Landi) while on the job. Levi gave the interns their marching orders for the day and then spotted Nico talking with Levi's fellow doctor and friend Jo, who works in pediatrics. The confused Levi sought out Jo (Camilla Luddington), wondering what Nico was doing there with her. Jo was tight-lipped because of doctor-patient confidentiality, further confusing Levi, who wondered why Nico would be seeing a pediatrician. He then ran into Nico. They made small talk until Nico's new boyfriend Jason (Brandon Santana) arrived, revealing that the two were at the hospital because their surrogate was having some testing done. This all left Nico shocked, especially since Jason had no knowledge of Levi's prior relationship with Nico. Levi vented to Jo about it, and she surmised that Levi was feeling jealous that Nico has moved on while Levi really hasn't. She urged him to work on moving forward in his own life instead of dwelling on the past. Levi & Nico crossed paths again later, privately. Nico confessed to him that he never thought of having children and probably wouldn't have gotten together with Jason if he knew how dedicated he was to the idea. Nico then told him that he wanted Jason enough to expand his thinking on the notion of becoming a father. Levi told him that he was happy for him and they got some closure on their past. The episode ended with Levi taking the next step for his career and deciding to focus on securing a pediatrics fellowship with the new pediatrics head Dr. Beltran (Natalie Morales) once his residency is over.
