Birthright ⁞⁞ Halloween 2025

The Brazilian supernatural horror film Birthright (A Herança) centers on Thomas (Diego Montez), a young man who returns to Brazil after learning of his mother's death. His supportive partner Beni (Yohan Levy) accompanies him and he soon learns that his mother has left him ownership of a country house that belonged to his grandmother, whom he never met. Thomas & Beni arrive at the house, meeting its caretakers, his two estranged aunts Victoria (Analu Prestes) and Berta (Cristina Pereira). The two older women warmly welcome Thomas, immediately treating him like family, while the curious Beni is unable to avoid filming the historic locale. As the two spend more time there, Thomas becomes further drawn in by the women, and the young Amanda (Luiza Kosovski) who also appears to live on the grounds. The women fill Thomas with food and stories about his time spent there as a child with his mother, while Thomas explores the properties more abandoned areas, ultimately coming across a mysterious underground tomb. 

Thomas begins to have strange dreams inside the house, luring him closer toward a painting of his grandmother, allowing Berta and Victoria to take further control of his actions. They place him into a ritual involving sex with Amanda, causing Thomas to dream of having a child with her, to his aunts' delight. Meanwhile, Beni comes across an ancient makeshift graveyard in the nearby woods. Sensing a sinister force in play, Beni demands they leave the property and return home, but Thomas appears to be fully under the control of his family and refuses to leave. When Beni attempts to leave himself, he is hunted by the gruff male groundskeeper while Thomas & Amanda become the subject of another ritual performed by Berta and Victoria at the tomb. Thomas' female ancestor is awakened from inside the tomb and begins to feed off him until Beni shows up, interrupting things with the groundskeeper's rifle. Thomas breaks free of their hold on him causing the women to all perish in the tomb. In the end, Beni helps Thomas escape the resulting fire.
