Weapons ⁞⁞ Halloween 2025

The hit horror mystery Weapons tells the spooky story of a small town left distraught after 17 children from the same elementary school class disappear after mysteriously leaving their homes at the exact same time in the middle of the night. Their teacher Justine Gandy (Julia Garner) and one classmate Alex Lilly are the only people from the class left behind. This leads to Justine becoming a town pariah, blamed for the disappearances. The film's queer content comes courtesy of school principal Marcus Miller (Benedict Wong), who attempts to quell the growing anger of the community and protect Justine. He puts her on leave and suggests therapy as she struggles with the situation. When she demands to return to work, he sternly reminds her of how she oversteps when it comes to her students, even if comes from a place of caring. He warns her to keep a low profile, but she is unable to avoid Alex, despite Marcus' warning. When she goes to his house and discovers strange things there, she reports them to Marcus, interrupting his personal life with his husband Terry (Clayton Farris). While Marcus scolds her for contacting Alex outside of school, she makes a formal welfare complaint, causing him to reach out to Alex's parents.

This leads to a fateful meeting with Alex's aunt Agnes (Amy Madigan), the mysterious source behind the disappearances. She spins a tale of taking care of Alex and his sick parents. Marcus presses her on the welfare complaint requiring he speak to Alex's parents despite their illness. This ultimately leads to his demise. Later, Marcus & Terry's quiet day at home is interrupted by Agnes at their doorstep, claiming to be in need of water after a series of misfortunes on her way to speak to Marcus. While Marcus is keen to keep professional boundaries, Terry allows the woman to come inside. This allows Agnes to strike, revealing her power as a witch. She takes control of Marcus, turning him on Terry in a state of rage. The weaponized Marcus kills Terry before Agnes sets him off to target Justine. In his unstoppable rage, he attacks Justine who is helped by angry parent Archer (James Brolin), allowing Justine to escape. Marcus continues in pursuit of her until he runs into traffic and gets mowed down by a speeding car. The event bonds Justine & Archer who put their separate clues together, leading them to Alex's house and the answer to the town's witchy mystery.
