The acclaimed series Heartstopper returns this week, wrapping up the series with the much-anticipated movie Heartstopper Forever. Based on her graphic novel series, Alice Osman brought her characters to life on-screen introducing a new audience to the young lives of Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor), as they came of age alongside their growing circle of friends. Season 3, Episode 7: "Together"
Charlie is caught off-guard when his teachers Mr. Ajayi (Fisayo Akinade) and Mr. Farouk (Nima Taleghani) reveal they have nominated him to be the school's head boy for the next school year. Charlie isn't sure he would be a good choice, but they make it clear that Charlie could be very inspiring for his younger classmates. This led to an emotional moment for Mr. Farouk, as he imagined himself as a child, believing he would have benefitted greatly from having a gay presence in his school life growing up to help cope with his sexuality.

Season 2, Episode 6: "Truth/Dare"
The Season 2 trip to Paris featured many milestones for Nick, Charlie and their friends. A hotel party for Tara's birthday led to a game of "Truth or Dare?" for the teens on what would be an eventful evening for several characters. For Nick, the game led to him revealing his sexuality to his classmates, as well as his relationship with Charlie. Going public with their romance was a major step for Charlie & Nick, as they were finally able to be open in their relationship among their peers, who all proved to be supportive of their romance.

With the weight of the future on the minds of the show's teens, Tara (Corinna Brown) found herself reaching an emotional breaking point while hanging out with the group. Decisions about her future plans had been weighing on Tara's mind for some time. This led to a major panic attack in front of her friends. In that moment, Charlie stepped up to help calm her. Given his own recent mental health struggles, Charlie worked to make sure that Tara felt supported and regained her breath, coming to the aide of a friend in her time of need.

Season 3, Episode 8: "Apart"
One of Heartstopper's most cherished relationships was that of Charlie and his older sister Tori (Jenny Walser). Tori proved to be a constant presence in Charlie's life, attempting to help him deal with any of his struggles, even when he was keeping them secret. In the series' final episode, things came full circle as the two shared a heartwarming moment at the summer festival, as Tori avoided her growing feelings for Michael. While on a ferris wheel together, Charlie urged her to share the love she pours into him with somone else.

Season 2, Episode 5: "Heat"
The supportive friendship between Charlie and Tao (William Gao) led to a surprising conversation between the two while on the school trip to Paris. Tao revealed his guilt to Charlie over accidentally outing him, which led to harsh bullying for Charlie years earlier. Charlie took the moment to make sure that Tao knew that he never blamed him for the bullying and that their friendship could withstand almost anything. The heartwarming moment was sealed with a hug and Charlie leaving a commemorative lock with their names in Paris.

Part of Charlie's mental health journey included therapy with a professional, Geoff Young (Eddie Marsan). The series finale saw Charlie reaching a new sense of peace, feeling upbeat and ready to reduce his therapy sessions. The scene saw Charlie acknowledge his need for other people, especially his loved ones, realizing that leaning on them during times of struggle strengthened his relationships. For someone who spent so much time trying to not burden others, it was a breakthrough that opened Charlie up to a brighter future.

As Charlie's struggle with his mental health was compounded by Nick's departure for a family trip, Charlie withdrew from his friends, retreating to his bedroom. While his request that Charlie open up to him about what he was going through didn't work, Isaac made it clear that he was there for Charlie no matter what. Season 2's trip to Paris led to a surprising connection between teacher chaperones Mr. Ajayi and Mr. Farouk. While working to keep order at the hotel, the two teachers spot Nick & Charlie frolicking in the hallway. This leads to a casual conversation about teenage life, where Mr. Farouk reveals to Mr. Ajayi how he never got to explore the coming of age that Nick & Charlie have, essentially coming out to his openly gay co-worker. Mr. Ajayi provided a shoulder for him to open up, ultimately leading to a romantic connection between them.

Nick's family trip in Season 3 occurred at a pivotal time as Nick knew Charlie was struggling back home with an eating disorder that he was unable to admit. Nick's fears for Charlie's health mounted and the distance didn't help. He finally confided in his therapist aunt Diane (Hayley Atwell). She provided Nick with comfort and supportive words in an effort to help him understand the limits of his power when it came to Charlie's health battle. Diane made sure Nick understood that loving someone doesn't mean you can always save them.

One of the most beautiful moments in Heartstopper's history came just four episodes into the series. With Charlie & Nick's blossoming connection, they agreed to keep things secret at school. Ironically, the conversation about secrecy would lead to one of the duo's most public displays of affection. Nick left Charlie's house in the rain, only for Charlie to follow. When Nick asked if he forgot something, Charlie responded with a surprise kiss that Nick happily accepted. It would become one of the most iconic moments between the teens.

Season 1 of the series ended with a milestone for Nick & Charlie as they declared themselves boyfriends, but an arguably more heartwarming moment came earlier in the episode as Nick sat down with his mother Sarah (Olivia Colman) and revealed to her that he was bisexual. He also revealed that he was dating Charlie. The tear-jerking finale moment when Sarah hugged her son, thanking him for sharing his truth, could warm any heart with many viewers finding it inspiring in their own journeys to come out to their loved ones.

Season 3 of the series began with a major milestone for Charlie & Nick. At the end of the first episode, Charlie worked up the courage to tell Nick that he loved him for the first time. After doing it behind a closed door while Nick showered, Charlie headed home, only for Nick to rush after him. This led to an iconic moment with Nick getting Charlie to repeat his words directly to him, followed by Nick reciprocating the feeling and telling Charlie that he loves him as well. The duo began the final season with a kiss solidifying their romance.
