My Life with the Walter Boys (3x3) ⁞⁞ Episode Spotlight
The Netflix series My Life with the Walter Boys recently returned for its third season. With original cast member Corey Fogelmanis no longer a fulltime cast member, his character Nathan received much less screentime for Season 3 in a recurring role, with no major storyline outside of Episode 3. Nathan checked in at the school newspaper where he found his ex-boyfriend Skylar (Jaylan Evans), working as editor. The exes made small talk about wanting to cover the school band's upcoming European tour. As Skylar pitched Nathan an article idea focused on reviewing musical act coming to town, he pulled up one of the band's music videos. Nathan continued to struggle with their break-up as he stole a few glances at Skylar while he wasn't watching. When he did begin watching the music video, which included several flashing lights, he experienced a brief medical incident. Skylar noticed and got him to sit down, as Nathan explained the odd feeling he was having. Skylar guessed that Nathan might have experienced a mild seizure.
The two relocated to the cafeteria, where Skylar got him some water, and Nathan revealed that he had stopped taking his epilepsy medication. This led to a confrontation as Skylar showed concern for Nathan's health, given what happened. Nathan told him that he didn't feel normal taking pills everyday and he didn't want to be a burden on his family, given his father's recent medical recovery taking a lot of attention. Nathan begged Skylar not to say anything to anyone about what happened, assuring him that he was okay. Skylar made it clear that he was not a fan of Nathan's decision and that he was only upset because he cared about him. Near the end of the episode, Nathan listened to music in his bedroom, where he was interrupted by his mother Katherine (Sarah Rafferty), looking to talk. She revealed that Skylar called and told her about his seizure and that Nathan had stopped taking his epilepsy medication. Nathan told her that the seizure wasn't that bad.
Katherine looked for an explanation about why he would do something so dangerous. Nathan explained that he was tired of feeling like the weird kid. Katherine told him that his medication kept him safe and healthy. She apologized for being occupied with his father's health and missing what was going on with him, but then told him that she wasn't always going to be around and she needed to know he could love himself enough to take care of himself the way that she would love and take care of him. Nathan agreed, and revealed that he had already restarted his medication after the incident at school. Katherine then warned him not to be angry at Skylar. She told him that when you really care about someone you'll do almost anything to make sure they're okay. The Episode 10 finale would later reveal Nathan's decision to go on the school band's tour of Europe. He told Skylar, leading to them agreeing to text each other regularly before they shared a last dance. It's unclear if Fogelmanis will return for Season 4 of the series, which is currently in production.
