Crew Girl (1x4) ⁞⁞ Episode Spotlight

The Netflix series Crew Girl follows leading lady Teagan (Miku Martineau) who acclimates to life at her new small town prep school, where she fights to join the crew team, after learning there is no team for female students. Episode 4 began with her doing more bonding with her teammates, encouraging them through a training exercise as they prepared for an upcoming competition. The team includes gay character Bronson "Baloo" Garner (Jude Wilson). After training, the team hangs out with a few of their female schoolmates, including Baloo's sister Britney. Baloo sneaks away to video chat with his secret love interest Logan (Tyler Roberge), who rows for the rival Westvale team. Baloo jokingly shows off how he defaced the Westvale t-shirt that Logan sent him. Logan encourages him to try it on anyway. Britney (Sage Linder) catches him, discovering his secret, and warns him to break-up with Logan and not risk upsetting the team, which includes her boyfriend Josh. Baloo refuses, causing her to snap a quick pic of him in the shirt. She demands he break things off, or she might be forced to share the picture.

Britney joined the team for the away game against Westvale, blackmailing Baloo into doing whatever she wants given her leverage. He then ran into Logan, sharing a discrete public interaction. Baloo was surprised Logan approached him, given their decision not to talk during the trip. Logan revealed he wasn't able to resist. That night, the two would later cross paths in the wooded area near the hotel. They began some more intimate in-person bonding as they began making out, until they heard approaching footsteps, causing them to hide in the bushes. Baloo realized it was his teammates, Noah & Perry (Connor Wong). While hiding, they heard the duo talking about him ghosting them for training. Perry remarked that Baloo never tries and is able to roll into competitions and do just fine.

After their departure, Logan noticed Baloo's easy-going demeanor had changed. He asked if he was okay. Baloo told him that he had always heard the same things from everyone in his life, including his family, believing he never tries to work hard. He disputed that, and Logan told him that he probably just makes it look easy. He told Baloo it was probably making him feel taken for granted. Logan encouraged him to look at the positive. At least his team saw him as someone they could count one to do well. The two then proceeded to continue their makeout session. After successfully defeating the Westvale team, Baloo & Logan shared a discrete glance before Baloo celebrated with his team. He brought up Perry's remarks to him and Perry assured him that he wasn't trying to be negative and envied his position on the team. Baloo appeared happy to know he was jealous of him, which Perry disputed. Baloo continued the celebration, carrying the trophy off to a party that he announced would be in his hotel room.

He ended the episode with his secret romance still intact. Ultimately, the season would end with a more public makeout, as Logan & Baloo shared a kiss during the Episode 8 finale, where Baloo was cheered on by his supportive teammates.
