Adults - Season 2 ⁞⁞ Series Spotlight

Season 2 of the comedy series Adults followed the continuing misadventures of a quintet of housemates navigating life and love in New York, including gay character Anton (Owen Thiele). He began the second season still married to his best friend Issa's boyfriend, the sexually fluid Paul Baker (Jack Innanen), allowing him to remain in the house, and the country, for green card purposes. The friendship between Anton and Paul Baker continued to grow, along with hints of something more emotional simmering beneath the surface for both men. While Anton continued his long-standing aversion to getting involved in another romance due to his failed romantic past, it would ultimately become a smokescreen to hide his growing feelings for his housemate. Anton was unable to avoid the flirtations of Eric (Isaac Powell) after the two crossed paths at the club, immediately realizing the things they share in common. This would lead to a kiss, but Anton would temper any potential romance, revealing he was married just as Paul Baker appeared on the scene, leaving Eric disappointed.

Paul Baker would step up to help Anton smooth over his tumultuous relationship with his lesbian sister Talia (Raven-Symoné), after Anton grew furious at her refusing to allow him to be a sperm donor for her and her wife. Paul Baker helped him present his best self, but when it didn't change Talia's mind, Anton crashed out. After revealing his secret marriage, Talia looked to start over with her brother, though she still refused to involve him in her pregnancy plans. The simmering tension between the two would boil over during a chaotic night that found the housemates attempting to rid the house of a raccoon and an opossum, all happening at the same time that Issa & Paul Baker looked to have a serious conversation about the growing distance between them in their relationship. Issa (Amita Rao) misunderstood the situation, believing Paul Baker wanted to open their relationship, causing her to push him closer to Anton, leading to a three-way makeout session, broken up by the possum.

Issa & Paul Baker would break up, leading to a shuffling of rooms in the house, with Anton ending up in a solo room. He was challenged to make good use of the room, as his roommates dealt with conflicts after being swapped together. After his hand was forced, to the disappointment of Paul Baker, he hooked up with the group's toxic acquaintance, the demon twink Zack-Carlos (Julian Manjerico), who looked to use the hookup to gain a foothold in the house to move in. The group would ultimately rid themselves of him thanks to a carbon monoxide leak in the house. When Anton would later run into trouble at work, putting his job in jeopardy, Issa would attempt to help him while Paul Baker did the same off on his own, helping to normalize the curse word that got Anton into hot water in the office.

The finale found Paul Baker running to become the head of the Home Owner's Association, putting the group into conflict with the elder incumbent, putting their home life on the line when the man's daughter threatened to expose their violation of zoning laws due to their living situation. The group pivoted to lose the election, with Issa & Anton attempting to change voters minds at the polling place. Fearing Paul Baker would win and they would have to move, Issa urged Anton to tell Paul Baker his feelings, shocking him. She encouraged him, unaware that their conversation was being broadcast on television, seen by Paul Baker. He panicked, and was urged by their housemates Billie & Samir to follow his heart as Anton & Issa returned. In the end, Paul Baker lost the election, allowing them all to stay together. Anton & Paul Baker revealed their shared feelings and ended the season with a kiss.
