13 LGBT-Inclusive Series Returning in 2024

2024 is set to be another big year for LGBTQ+ content on series and in film. One of the most popular recent series with gay characters in lead roles is Young Royals. The Swedish romantic drama returns to Netflix on March 11 for its final season. In honor of its return, this week's list spotlights 13 other LGBT-inclusive series returning this year. Whether their hiatus was caused by production timelines or the recent Hollywood strikes, these series are poised to make big comebacks in 2024.

Industry

Industry follows the lives of a group of bankers and traders making their way in the financial world, forcing them to make fateful decisions that impact not just their careers, but their lives. The award-winning MAX series does not have a specified return date yet for its third season, but it is expected to make its return later this year with cast member David Jonsson reprising his role as the show's gay character Gus Sackey. Season 2 of the series was released in 2022.

Walker

Despite series shake-ups at The CW network, the family drama Walker was one of three series to survive the recent swath of cancellations. The series follows Texas Ranger Cordell Walker as he fights crime, deals with family secrets and dramas, and fights to preserve their legacy. Cordell's family includes his gay brother Liam, played by Keegan Allen. Liam was last seen attending the Season 3 finale's big wedding, alongside his recurring love interest Ben Perez, played by Matt Pascua. Season 4 premieres on April 3.

The Umbrella Academy

The action drama The Umbrella Academy is set to premiere its final season on August 8. The award-winning Netflix series features the Hargreeves family of former child heroes who unite to protect the world as adults, while also dealing with their personal struggles. With Season 3 coming to an end back in the Summer of 2022, the Hargreeves siblings will have been off our screens for over two years. Cast member Robert Sheehan is expected to reprise his gay role as Klaus Hargreeves when the series returns.

Uncoupled

The Neil Patrick Harris romantic comedy series Uncoupled has gone through major upheaval since its first season aired in 2022. Initially cancelled by Netflix, the show was picked up by Showtime for a second season to be released later this year. Leading man Neil Patrick Harris will return with the series, though the status of the remaining cast is unknown. Brooks Ashmanskas, Emerson Brooks & Tuc Watkins also appeared in gay roles during Season 1 of the series.

Station 19

The ABC series Station 19 is set to return for Season 7 on March 14. It was also recently announced that it will be the show's last, despite its status as the network's #2 highest-rated drama series. The 10-episode shortened run is set to wrap up the stories of the show's cast of first responders. This includes gay firefighter Travis Montgomery, played by Jay Hayden. While Travis' final developments are unknown, it was announced that Lachlan Buchanan would also be returning as Travis' former recurring love interest Emmett Dixon.

Grey's Anatomy

Delayed by the writers and actors strikes, Grey's Anatomy's landmark 20th season is set to premiere on March 14. The medical drama remains ABC's highest rated drama series centering on the lives and cases of the medical staff of Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital, including gay doctor Levi Schmitt, played by Jake Borelli. Schmitt's life will likely become more complicated with the recently announced return of recurring actor Alex Landi to his role as surgeon Nico Kim, Schmitt's ex who hasn't been seen since Season 18.

Hacks

After a two-year hiatus due to leading lady Jean Smart's illness and the industry strikes, the dramedy Hacks returns to MAX on May 2. The series continues to follow the lives of veteran comedian Deborah Vance, and her now-former writing partner Ava who will find themselves reunited, along with Deborah's quirky staff which includes gay characters Marcus & Damien, played by Carl Clemons-Hopkins & Mark Indelicato, respectively. The promotional pic above hints at major drama ahead involving the two characters.

Heartbreak High

Netflix returns to the controversial Hartley High for Season 2 of the teen drama on April 11. The Australian series Heartbreak High will pick up the coming of age dramas of leading lady Amerie and her troubled classmates. Season 1 left fans hanging when it came to the show's gay love story between Darren & Ca$h, played by James Majoos & Will McDonald, as Ca$h publicly professed his love for Darren while he was being dragged away by police. It's safe to say that fans are excited to see what happens next.

Star Trek: Discovery

The crew of the USS Discovery are set to embark on their final adventure beginning April 4. The Emmy-winning series returns to Paramount+ for the fifth season, as the crew encounters a new mystery set to threaten their future. The continuing relationship between Dr. Hugh Culber (Wilson Cruz) and Lt. Commander Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp) is also set to continue, along with their newly-formed queer found family members Adira (Blu del Barrio) and Gray (Ian Alexander).

Interview with the Vampire

Based on Anne Rice's iconic vampire books, Season 2 of the AMC fantasy drama will continue the retelling of the epic story of love, blood and perils of immortality experienced by the vampire Louis de Point du Lac, played by Jacob Anderson. With the season-ending reveal that his companion Rashid (Assad Zaman) is actually the powerful vampire Armand, Louis' greatest love, the series is set for major romantic drama when it returns May 12, with Louis' former love, the powerful Lestat (Sam Reid), still alive as well.

Chucky

Due to the industry strikes, the Syfy/USA Network horror series split its third season into two parts. The remaining four episodes of Season 3 will begin airing on April 10, picking up where things left off with an aging Chucky continuing to wreak havoc inside the White House with the show's trio of heroes left in a stalemate with the doll. The relationship between lead couple Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur) and Devon Evans (Björgvin Arnarson), left orphaned once again with their pal Lexy, will continue as well.

P-Valley

Season 2 of the STARZ strip-club drama P-Valley aired back in the Summer of 2022. The new season will no doubt explore the next steps for the show's queer couple, club owner Uncle Clifford (Nicco Annan) and rapper Lil' Murda (J. Alphonse Nicholson), after Murda shockingly went public with their romance in the Season 2 finale, as his character prepared to embark on his first tour. A start date for Season 3 has not been officially announced, but it's believed the new season will air sometime in the fall.

Wreck

The queer UK horror mystery Wreck is set to make its return on March 26. Season 2 of the series rejoins leading man Jamie, played by Oscar Kennedy, as he looks to take down the Velorum corporation responsible for his sister's disappearance. He'll be aided by his found family of cruise ship co-workers, including his love interest Olly (Anthony Rickman) and his lesbian best friend Vivian (Thaddea Graham). The cast also includes James Phoon as gay supporting character Hamish, who also survived the blood-soaked first season.
