Scott Pilgrim Takes Off ⁞⁞ Series Spotlight
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is an animated reinterpretation of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series as well as the 2010 live action feature film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, reuniting the film's cast to provide the animated voices. The series puts a new spin on the story of slacker Scott Pilgrim after he first encounters the mysterious Ramona Flowers, putting him on a collision course with a league of her evil exes. The series explores what happens when Scott loses his first fight against one of those exes, Matthew Patel, seemingly killing him. Ramona, Scott's friends, and the League of Evil Exes attempt to move forward in a world without Pilgrim, setting them all off on new paths. Scott's friend and roommate Wallace Wells (voiced by Kieran Culkin) looks to make his dream of getting paid to be himself come true. When a film of Scott's life goes into production, Wallace makes his way onto the set and calls out the poor performance of the straight actor playing him. This leads to his casting, opposite Scott's ex-girlfriend Envy Adams playing Ramona, and her bandmate boyfriend Todd Ingram (voiced by Brandon Routh) playing Scott. Envy & Todd's inability to keep their hands off one another during filming leads Wallace to suggest the director make a change to Scott's character, leading to a kiss between Todd & Wallace. Todd quickly falls in love with Wallace, who dismisses him as a fling, given his lack of belief in the sparks of true love. The series ends with Wallace traveling to Paris, where he encounters a fellow Canadian (voiced by Cory Doran), leading to a kiss and sparks, shocking him.
