Twins: The Series ⁞⁞ BL Spotlight
Twins: The Series is a recently-released entry in the evolving BL genre, as BL series and movies continue to move into a new era, with more unique plots, more gay pairings, and increased skin.
Sprite & Zee are estranged identical twins, separated by their parents' divorce, both looking to become star athletes. Zee looks to become the top volleyball player at his university, while Sprite is racking up victories in jujitsu. When a pair of his disgruntled opponents attempt to threaten Sprite after their losses, he defends himself, leaving them both beaten and humiliated. They seek revenge, with more backup, and launch an attack at night, targeting Zee by mistake. He is left hospitalized as a result and Sprite is convinced to take on his identity to ensure that he doesn't lose his spot on the volleyball squad.
Now leading a double-life, Sprite develops an instant crush on Zee's teammate and roommate First, while battling through the team's negative opinion of Zee, given his previous lack of teamwork. With the team manager Salmon as the only keeper of his secret, Sprite's attempts at romance with First are challenged when First spies the duo together. Things grow more complicated as the recovering Zee does get romantic with the female Salmon, leading to public appearances that leave First confused, until the twin secret is revealed.
In addition to the main romantic plot for Sprite & First, the series features two additional gay couplings. The volleyball team captain Jack shares a casual sexual relationship with fellow player Mike. In addition to their rendezvous in the shower or their shared room, they deal with the conflict of Jack's position on the team and his treatment of Mike during competition. The third gay romance occurs for another of the volleyball players, the friendly Sam. After an initial unrequited crush on Zee, Sam catches the eye of Sprite's best friend Tan who is a member of the jujitsu club. Tan grows suspicious of Sprite's behavior when his absences in jujitsu rack up, leading him to start following him, putting him in Sam's path. He later comes to Sam's rescue after a drunken night, leading to sparks flying between them.
