Abbott Elementary (3x4) ⁞⁞ Episode Spotlight

Episode 4 of the third season of the hit ABC comedy Abbott Elementary was appropriately titled "Breakup" and featured a major storyline for the show's gay teacher, Jacob (Chris Perfetti). After Jacob's recent desire to hang out more with his colleagues after work didn't go unnoticed, Jacob confided in his friend and fellow teacher Gregory (Tyler James Williams) that he had been looking to spend less time at home because of problems in his relationship with his boyfriend Zach (Larry Owens). When Gregory learned that Jacob had been unhappy for seven months, he suggested he talk to Zach and break-up. Jacob instead explained to him that he had purposely began to do things that he knew annoyed Zach, in hopes that Zach would break-up with him, allowing him to avoid a confrontation. Gregory advised him against that plot, but Jacob didn't listen. This led to Zach confronting him at school about his recent behavior, with Gregory caught in the middle. Taking Gregory's advice, Jacob finally came clean and admitted his unhappiness. The upset Zach accepted the break-up until the relieved Jacob then revealed all of the things he had been doing to annoy Zach. This infuriated Zach, who promised revenge, leaving Jacob upset. Gregory consoled him, as he arrived at work the next day to reveal all of the things that Zach was now doing to him, including shrinking his clothes and kicking him out of their home. The episode likely brings to an end Larry Owens' run on the series. He had been recurring as Zach since Season 1.
