Abbott Elementary (3x8, 3x11, 3x14) ⁞⁞ Episode Spotlight

Episode 8 of the third season of the ABC hit comedy Abbott Elementary picked up on the personal life of gay teacher Jacob (Chris Perfetti) after his break-up with his longtime boyfriend Zach in Episode 4. Jacob joined several of his fellow educators in taking part in a CPR training to better prepare them in cases of emergency at the school. They immediately recognized one of the trainers, EMT Avi (Karan Soni), from a party hosted by Jacob's co-worker Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter). It was revealed that Jacob had made-out with Avi that night. It wasn't long before Jacob was sharing banter with Avi during the training, leading to him teasing Jacob that he was busy when he overheard Jacob making plans with leading lady Janine (Quinta Brunson) to go check on their friend Gregory (Tyler James Williams) at an education panel where he was speaking that night. Jacob remarked to the camera that Avi's attitude might have led to him falling in love. Episode 11, appropriately titled "Double Date," saw Avi's return as Jacob told Gregory about a potential double-date with Avi's EMT friend Olivia (Lana Candor), if Gregory agreed to come. He did and Jacob proclaimed himself a matchmaker. The foursome got stuck in a dive bar as they waited for their restaurant reservation and when they spotted Janine with one of her new co-workers Manny, Gregory became instantly, and obviously, jealous. 

Jacob tried to reign him in, but he interrupted Janine anyway, only to discover she was not on a date, which Jacob had assured him. The annoyed Olivia departed and Jacob apologized to Avi, who had a different reaction, as he was thrilled at how messy Jacob's friend was. The next day, Jacob confronted Gregory about his feelings, getting him to finally confirm he was interested in Janine. The Episode 14 finale saw Janine throwing a house party for all of her friends, while trying to avoid awkwardness with Gregory. Jacob & Avi arrived together and were enjoying the night until Jacob spotted Zach (Larry Owens) in attendance. Janine told him that Zach was her friend too, and she encouraged him to make peace with his ex. The two were later seen hugging, with Janine patting herself on the back. They partied the night away and at the end, Jacob & Avi left with Gregory and Janine's other friend Erika (Courtney Taylor). Jacob urged Gregory to go back and make his move after Avi noticed Manny had left the party. When Erika revealed that Janine previously turned down Manny's date invitation, Gregory & Jacob shared a look. Gregory went back and got a season-ending kiss, thanks to Jacob's encouragement.
