Reginald the Vampire (2x2) ⁞⁞ Episode Spotlight

The science-fiction comedy Reginald the Vampire is back for its second season, continuing to follow the misadventures of leading man, Reginald, a Slushy Shack employee who finds himself navigating a world that includes self-obsessed vampires, admired for their beauty and power, which causes newly-turned Reginald to be an outcast since he doesn't fit their stereotype. During Season 1, Reginald's Slushy Shack co-worker, and former bully Todd (Aren Buchholz) had been campaigning with Reginald's maker Maurice and Maurice's vampire partner Mike (Ryan Jinn) to get Maurice to turn him into a vampire too. When that failed, he turned his attention to Mike, planting a kiss on him in the Season 1 finale after Mike agreed to turn him, after some training. Episode 2 of the second season picked up with Todd's training for vampire trials, as Mike tried to remind Todd of everything he would be giving up if he became a vampire, given Todd's vanity and enjoyment of exercise in the sunlight. Mike removed his glove and placed his own hand in the sunlight, causing it to burn. Todd was horrified and quickly moved to protect Mike's hand. Mike informed Todd that he wasn't ready, which Todd disputed. As he looked into Mike's eyes, he told him he felt weird and he didn't know why. Mike told him that it was probably because he had kissed him a few weeks before. Todd then claimed to not remember that happening before jogging away.

Later, Todd summoned Mike to the Slushy Shack, taking him to the back and revealing a candlelit setup, telling Mike that he understood the importance of presentation. He then surprised Mike with a special smoothie he created from human blood. Mike was surprised and enjoyed the concoction, as Todd revealed he had a friend at a blood bank. Mike then told him this didn't prove he was ready because that's not what true vampire feeding is about. He needed to see the reality. Feeling Todd wasn't ready, Mike reluctantly took him along as he set his sights on feeding on a jogger in the park. Todd watched from afar, appearing enamored as Mike fed on the man. They later strolled through the park, discussing it and Todd told him that it didn't change his desire to be a vampire at all. He told Mike about all of society's expectations he had been dealing with because of what he looks like. Todd told him that he wanted to be free to do whatever he wanted and to be his best self. This led to him rushing in to kiss Mike again. He quickly apologized for not asking permission but Mike pulled him in for another kiss, leading to a lengthier one. Todd smiled, telling him that he was finally free. He shouted it to the world, but Mike told him once again that he still wasn't ready, signaling that his training would need to continue.
