Doctor Who (Ep. 14x6) ⁞⁞ Episode Spotlight

Episode 6 of the new season of the long-running UK science-fiction series Doctor Who found the latest Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) traveling to 1813 England along with his companion Ruby (Millie Gibson). Appropriately titled "Rogue," the episode saw the duo infiltrating a duchess's lavish matchmaking party, where guests were being killed and impersonated by the villainous shape-shifting Chuldurs. While there, the Doctor crosses paths with Rogue (Jonathan Groff). As their separate technologies clash, each man realizes the other is not of the time period, leading to a flirtatious standoff that ends with them each revealing their true identities. The Doctor discovers that Rogue is a time-traveling bounty hunter looking to defeat the Chuldurs, while the Doctor wants to instead imprison it in a barren dimension. With defeating the enemy as a shared goal, the two grow even closer, getting to know one another as sparks fly. However, they soon must refocus their efforts when Ruby becomes a target of the Chuldurs, looking to make the ultimate match for one of its shape-shifting brethren at the party. The Doctor springs into action, using Rogue's capture technology to trap the shape-shifting creatures, unaware that Ruby is not one of them. She reveals that she was pretending but The Doctor is unable to save her from their fate until Rogue steps in. Knowing The Doctor could not sacrifice his best friend, Rogue shares a passionate kiss with him before taking Ruby's place and dooming himself to the barren dimension, along with the Chuldurs. Ruby is safe and The Doctor is left heart-broken, unsure of how he could ever find his lost love, especially considering he didn't know his real name. The Doctor is left with Rogue's ring, given to him earlier when the two shared a romantic, and scandalous, dance to distract the party guests and the Chuldurs.
