Élite - Season 8 ⁞⁞ Series Spotlight

The long-running Spanish Netflix series Élite came to an end with Season 8. The final season of the high school drama put primary focus on the show's queer male characters as the final mystery revolved around the murder of the previous season's new arrival, Joel (Fernando Líndez). Original cast member Omar Ayuso again reprised his role as Las Encinas graduate Omar, who shared a pleasant reunion with his returning sister Nadia (Mina El Hammani), just as his ex-boyfriend Joel got involved with new drama in the form of the school's Alumni Club, led by Héctor (Nuno Gallego) and his sister Emilia (Ane Rot) who were looking for new recruits. Reeling from his broken connection with Iván (André Lamoglia) and his money woes, Joel becomes an easy target for Héctor's seduction and lure of money and power. Iván returns, hoping to rekindle things with Joel, only to learn of the depths Joel has gone to secure his lifestyle, which soon includes being paid for sexual favors by other Alumni Club members, which turns off Héctor as well. This leads to even more queer content as alumni couple Guillermina (Alexandra Pino) and Pier (Mario Ermito) proposition Joel. Despite the drama, Iván & Joel manage to reunite and profess their love for one another.

Meanwhile, Omar agrees to help his pal Isadora (Valentina Zenere) with her new business venture, turning Isadora House into a popular posh club which becomes a beacon for drama. Omar ends up on Héctor's bad side after coming to Joel's defense, leading to a confrontation that later causes the Alumni Club to target Omar, leaving him beaten and comatose. As the drama ramped up, and more suspects in Joel's death came to light, Omar teamed up with the grieving Iván, Isadora and their friends to find the real culprit as Omar's roommate Dalmar (Iván Mendes) was set up to take the fall, given his lack of societal status. The group ultimately discovers that the killer is Luis (Alejandro Albarracín), one of the detectives in charge of the murder investigation, and an abuser targeting Isadora. They set out to trap him, ultimately finding justice for Joel. In the end, Omar & Nadia look to finally set things right and end the curse of death brought about by the culture of Las Encinas, helping to get the school closed for good.
