School Spirits (2x6) ⁞⁞ Episode Spotlight
Episode 6 of the second season of the Paramount+ teen drama School Spirits found the series' ragtag group of ghosts getting into the spirit as a class reunion was set to take place, marking a special time for jock ghost Wally (Milo Manheim), as his class of 1984 was being celebrated. His class reunion was an occasion he looked forward to every ten years. The episode put some major focus on the close friendship between Wally and gay ghost Charley (Nick Pugliese), as Charley urged Wally not to get too clingy in his efforts to make things perfect for his ghost love interest, leading lady Maddie (Peyton List). When Wally began asking questions about Charley's planned date for the night being their fellow ghost Yuri (Miles Elliot), Charley clammed up, as he talked about never having been on a date before. He then revealed that he was petrified and might just skip the whole thing. Wally assured him that it would be great and he would be right there with him all night for support as his wingman. Wally then spotted one of his favorite albums and played it, convincing Charley to join him in dancing, along with their friends Rhonda (Sarah Yarkin) & Quinn (Ci Hang Ma). Later that night, Wally & Charley attended the reunion, invisible to all of Wally's living classmates. Yuri joined them, making Charley nervous just as the reunion's "In Memorium" took place, highlighting the students who had passed away, including Wally. His big moment was quickly tempered when he & Charley overheard one of his classmates Owen (Scott Fee) grumbling to his husband Mark (Khari Jones) about the torture that he suffered at the hands of Wally and the other jocks when they were in high school. Charley was taken aback as he heard the man recount being trapped in a dumpster for hours by the jocks while they laughed.
Wally quickly told Charley that it was a long time ago and that's not who he really is now. Charley waved it off, agreeing, before walking off with Yuri. Left alone, Yuri tried to get Charley to dance, reminding him that he knows the type of person Wally is since they've been ghost pals for over twenty years now. Charley took Yuri's hand for their dance but as Yuri opened up to Charley about having never been to a dance before because his parents kept him in such a bubble due to his asthma, Charley grew more uncomfortable and made an awkward exit after snapping at Yuri for trying to make him feel better. Wally later found Charley outside the school, where he told him that if they had been alive at the same time, they wouldn't have been friends. Wally admitted that he would have never even spoke to him, but things were different now. He told Charley that he would destroy anyone that ever tried to hurt him. Wally urged Charley to go back inside to Yuri, who was also looking for him. Charley didn't truly believe that. He revealed that his discomfort at the reunion was because it brought up so much of his own past and how he prayed that he could change every day of his high school life, leading him to make jokes at his own expense in an effort to avoid bullies doing it to him. Wally assured him that it wasn't like that for him anymore and that Charley was a catch that Yuri was totally into. After both admitted to becoming better ghosts than they were people, Charley & Wally both professed their love for each other, solidifying their friendship before going back inside. Charley went to Yuri and apologized for abandoning him when he was trying to open up about his life. He hoped that there might be room in Yuri's bubble for him. Yuri turned on music and took his hand, leading to a dance and a first kiss for the duo.
