Olympo ⁞⁞ Series Spotlight
The Spanish drama series Olympo aired its first season on Netflix. The racy series chronicles the interpersonal relationships that develop among of group of young athletes who are recruited to train at a fictional elite center, where they compete for prestigious sponsorship deals with the global fashion brand Olympo. While they strive to prove themselves in their chosen sports, the collapse of one of their own leads to the discovery of a dangerous conspiracy behind the scenes. The series' queer male content comes courtesy of leading man Roque Pérez (Agustín Della Corte), a star on the rugby field. In addition to sports, the openly gay Roque also finds himself looking for love like many of his peers. As the roommate of fellow rugby player Cristian (Nuno Gallego) and best friend to leading lady Amaia (Clara Galle), Roque is a supporting player in the duo's romance while also looking to make his own love connection. Sparks fly between Roque and swimmer Diego (Gleb Abrosimov) but after Cristian jokingly posts a picture of the two together, Diego lashes out, punching Roque for exposing their tryst. This leads to Roque crossing paths with another talented rugby player, the wealthy and confrontational Sebas (Juan Perales).
While the sexual tension grows between Roque & Sebas, the latter attempts to keep his distance, by attempting to romance newcomer Zoe (Nira Osahia). But, when they realize they have no sexual chemistry, the two become confidantes as Zoe turns out to be more interested in women. After a major victory on the field, led by Roque, Sebas gives in to their attraction, leading the two to get steamy. While Sebas initially wants it to be a one-time thing, it's not long before the two men are falling into each other's beds. When an injury on the field sidelines Roque, he is placed into a bigger role, gaining sponsorship with Olympo, despite his injury. But things go south with Sebas when the two are caught kissing by the camera crew documenting Roque's journey at the performance center. Sebas pushes Roque away due to his fears at being outed. Ultimately, however, the two find their way back to one another by the end of the eight-episode first season.
