10 Highest Grossing 2025 U.S. Films featuring Out Queer Actors


The 2025 United States box office saw several feature films hitting the big screen with out LGBTQ+ performers in notable roles. From action to fantasy to horror to comedy, queer actors found their place in some of the biggest films of the year. This week's listicle spotlights the ten highest grossing films at the U.S. box office that featured queer male performers, or their voices. Warning: Spoilers Ahead!  
 


Paddington in Peru 
(U.S. Box Office Rank: #47) - $45.7M

The charming Paddington Bear returned to the big screen for his third feature film outing. Out actor Ben Whishaw once again provided the voice for the lead character, as Paddington returned to Peru to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy (voiced by Imelda Staunton), placing him into a mysterious and unexpected adventure alongside the human Brown family. Despite it's release in the UK in November of 2024, Paddington in Peru made it's U.S. box office splash after it's release in America in February of 2025. 

 


One of Them Days 
(U.S. Box Office Rank: #41) - $50M

Headlined by leading ladies Keke Palmer and Sza, the buddy comedy One of Them Days follows best friends Dreux and Alyssa who embark on a race against the clock to make enough money to avoid eviction after being betrayed by Alyssa's  boyfriend. The ensuing extremes they find themselves in ultimately tests their friendship. Out actor Dewayne Perkins played the supporting role of Jameel, the duo's neighbor who shares a love-hate relationship with the women. He appeared in multiple scenes of the film.

 


Now You See Me: Now You Don't 
(U.S. Box Office Rank: #33) - $61.8M

Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco & Morgan Freeman were back for the third installment of their heist franchise. The Four Horsemen reunited to expose a diamond heiress's grand money laundering scheme in the new crime thriller. Their mission saw them recruiting a trio of young illusionists to help in their efforts. Out actor Justice Smith played one of the newcomers, Charlie. Smith teamed up with Ariana Greenblatt and Dominic Sessa to round out the cast of fictional magicians. 

 


Snow White 
(U.S. Box Office Rank: #24) - $87.2M 

Despite it's controversies and being panned by critics, Disney's live-action Snow White proved to be a money-maker at the box office. The adaptation of the classic tale sees the titular young Princess (Rachel Zegler) teaming up with seven dwarfs and a handsome young bandit to rebel against the Evil Queen and take back the kingdom. Though they did not appear on screen, out actors Tituss Burgess and George Salazar lent their voices to the film as dwarfs, with Burgess voicing Bashful while Salazar voiced Happy.

 


Freakier Friday 
(U.S. Box Office Rank: #22) - $94.1M 

22 years after the original Freaky Friday, Jamie Lee Curtis & Lindsay Lohan reprised their roles as mother-daughter duo Tess & Anna Coleman in the Disney sequel. With Anna now raising her daughter and attempting to bond with her soon-to-be stedaughter, the four women find their lives turned upside down by a new magical body swap. Out actor Jordan E. Cooper played the supporting role of Jett, a friend and assistant to music producer Anna. Cooper appeared in multiple scenes alongside Lindsay Lohan. 

 


Mufasa: The Lion King 
(U.S. Box Office Rank: #19) - $126M

Mufasa: The Lion King has the distinction of being on both the 2024 and 2025 highest-grossing film listicles, thanks to its release in theaters in December of 2024, allowing it to put a major dent in the U.S. box office in both years. The live-action Disney sequel, the latest in the Lion King franchise, featured out actor Billy Eichner voicing Timon for the second time on the big screen. He joined the returning Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, with the inseparable duo providing commentary on Mufasa's history, as it's retold by Rafiki.

 


Weapons 
(U.S. Box Office Rank: #16) - $151M

The popular and acclaimed dark comedy horror thriller Weapons told the twisted tale surrounding the mystery of seventeen missing schoolchildren in a small town. Benedict Wong starred in the film as Marcus, the school principal dealing with the fallout until he is drawn into the strange force behind the mystery. Out actor Clayton Farris played the small role of Terry, Marcus's husband, who also falls victim to the wicked happenings in town when the evil Gladys bewitches Marcus, forcing him to attack his husband. 

 


Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning 
(U.S. Box Office Rank: #12) - $197M

The fourth, and far from last, sequel to make this year's list, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning saw Tom Cruise return to his spy thriller franchise reprising his role as Ethan Hunt, who goes to war against a dangerous AI that he must stop before it can takeover the world. Out actor Tramell Tillman got to share screentime with Tom Cruise for his supporting role as Captain Jack Bledsoe, the commanding officer of the rescue submarine, the USS Ohio, which is infiltrated by an assassin looking to eliminate Hunt. 

 


Wicked: For Good 
(U.S. Box Office Rank: #6) - $335M

The sequel to last year's musical hit, Wicked: For Good saw leading ladies Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) & Glinda (Ariana Grande) struggling to maintain their friendship as Oz remained committed to condemning Elphaba as a Wicked Witch. Out actors Jonathan Bailey and Bowen Yang returned to reprise their roles as Fiyero and Pfannee, respectively. Out actor Colman Domingo joined the cast, providing the voice for the Cowardly Lion, as the musical narrative continued Elphaba's story alongside young Dorothy's arrival and journey through Oz.

 


Jurassic World: Rebirth 
(U.S. Box Office Rank: #4) - $339M

2025 was a landmark year for Jonathan Bailey. The out actor took on leading man roles in two of the highest grossing films of the year. In addition to Wicked: For Good, Bailey also scored another hit with another sequel, Jurassic World: Rebirth, where he played paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis, who is recruited for a classified mission, taking him to a remote island to extract bio samples from three prehistoric creatures with hopes of creating a life-saving cure. Bailey joined Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali for the big screen adventure.
