Queens of the Dead ⁞⁞ Halloween 2026

Queens of the Dead
is a campy horror film from the mind of writer/director Tina Romero, daughter of horror icon George A. Romero. The flick follows an eclectic group of queer characters, preparing for a major club event just as a zombie outbreak hits New York City. It all begins with drag queen ZombiQueen (Julie J.) who goes looking for a hook-up at a church, thanks to a dating app. What she finds instead is a zombie priest (Ahmad Maksoud), taking a bite out of her. She soon spreads the virus, causing increasing chaos as night approaches. Leading man Sam (Jaquel Spivey) attempts to focus on his work as a nurse, after a panic attack caused him to ditch his drag career. But, he is pressured to return to the stage when the club's headliner backs out, leaving only host Gensy (Andrew Levitt a.k.a Nina West) to pull double-duty.

Club dancer Nico (Tomás Matos) looks to seize the opportunity to gain the spotlight, but just after Sam makes his way to the bar, reuniting with his drag mother Gensy, they are all on lockdown due to the zombie outbreak. The trio pulls together along with bar owner Jimmy (Cheyenne Jackson), club promoter Dre (Katy O'Brien), and Dre's assistant Kelsey (Jack Haven) to fend off an attack from Nico's friend and fellow dancer Jax (Samora la Perdida) inside the club. With a horde of zombies looking to make their way inside, the group works together in their fight to stay alive, making new friends, and losing treasured family along the way. Sam manages to find his voice once again and the survivors manage to escape the city. The film also features queer icons Margaret Cho and Dominique Jackson in supporting roles.
