Midas Man ⁞⁞ Movie Spotlight

The UK biopic Midas Man tells the story of Brian Epstein (Jacob Fortune-Lloyd) in the fateful year of 1961 when the course of his life changed forever after crossing paths with John Lennon (Jonah Lees), Paul McCartney (Blake Richardson), George Harrison (Leo Harvey-Elledge) & Ringo Starr (Campbell Wallace) performing in a Liverpool cellar. A record store manager at the time, Epstein would offer his managerial services to the fledgling group now known the world over as The Beatles. Between 1961 and 1967, Epstein helped to transform the quartet and rise to super stardom, while also dealing with his own personal struggles related to his homosexuality. Epstein's strained relationship with his parents, Harry (Eddie Marsan) & Queenie (Emily Watson) highlighted his insecurities as he felt like a disappointment to his family because of his sexuality. This was shown to drive his ambition for success, through The Beatles. Epstein's personal life is also invaded by Tex Ellington (Ed Speleers), leading to a prolonged affair that he feels forced to keep secret. While Epstein opens his love life to his mother, it does not help things in his relationship with his father, before the elder man's death. Epstein's struggles often led to his drug use as a coping mechanism as well. The film ends just two months before his death from an accidental overdose.
